Obituary for Ernest LeRoy Dorris

Ernest LeRoy Dorris
Ernest LeRoy Dorris lost his fight with heart problems and passed away on May 6, 2017. He was the son of Edward and Marie Dorris, born on September 20, 1936. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Patricia, his children, Steve, Doug, and Loni and granddaughter/daughter, Mariah; grandchildren, Sarah, Amber, Desiree, Kyle, James, Dylan, and Tiana; sister, Darlene and brother, Edward and his wife Donna, and sisters in law, Jennie and Violet. He leaves 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Ernie served 9 years in the U.S. Air Force, receiving various medals of honor. Later in his life, he worked as a logger, construction worker and retired from CalTrans after serving 30 years! Ernie loved being involved with the grandkids and their school and sports events. He loved hunting, fishing, restoring old cars, and going on Jeep runs. Ernie loved Country Western music, and could dance the night away. He was a member of The American Legion Post 807 and The Moose Lodge 454 of Olivehurst. He also belonged to the ECV and had more than his share of fun at the events. He controlled the remote, no one got to watch TV if there was a military or western movie on. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 6 siblings: Lenabelle, Maxine, Jeraldine, Elmer, Kenneth, and Ruben, his sons, Robert and James Marshall, and granddaughters, Olivia, and Janel. Friends are invited to visit on Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. until Noon at Sierra View Mortuary with a funeral service to take place at 1:00 p.m. The reception will follow at The Moose Lodge, 1775 Beverly Avenue, in Olivehurst.
